Golden Ball Cactus

Barrel or (over time) column shaped; deeply ribbed with lots of stiff yellow spines on the ribs.

Grows between 50cm and 1m diameter and to around 1 metre tall. Can take 20 years or more to reach full size.

Uses

Well drained, mounded rockeries, xerophytic gardens, containers. In cooler climates, grown in greenhouses.

Culture

Tolerates heat and dry, but needs good drainage.

Best in full sun, but avoid frost. Prefers a dry climate to a humid one.
