Rhizomatous, clump-forming herbaceous perennial growing to a height and width approx 1m. Leaves are deeply-veined, large, wide, bronze-green and borne on hairy stems. The plumes of small, fragrant flowers are white or pink and borne on upright stems above the foliage during summer.

Uses

Ornamental perennial grown for both its foliage and flowers. Suitable for semi-shaded sites, bog gardens and ponds.

Culture

Suitable for a semi-shaded and sheltered position in a cool or temperate climate. Tolerates frost and waterlogged soil. Propagate by division in spring or seed in autumn.
