Rhizomatous perennial to 2.5m high. Leaves are dark green with purples tints. Red to yellow flowers with narrow petals are borne in summer. The black fruits are borne in capsules.

Uses

Flowering perennial suitable for a warm position in perennial borders and garden beds. Grown as a container plant in cool climates.

Culture

Suitable for full sun and a temperate or sub-tropical climate. Frost sensitive. Prefer hot, dry conditions, and flower best if rhizomes are kept moist and well-fertilised. Propagate by division or seed.
