Western Bleeding Heart

Spreading, tufted herbaceous perennial to .5m high by .3m wide. Leaves are oval, deeply-lobed, feathery and grey-green. Flower are heart shaped and pink-red, appearing on slender arching stems in spring and summer. A white flowered form is also available.

Uses

Ornamental perennial suitable for cottage gardens, rockeries and garden beds.

Culture

Prefers light shade and a cool, temperate or alpine climate. Grows best in moist, well-drained and fertile soil. Tolerates frost, flowering best in areas with cold winters. Propagate by seed in autumn or division in late winter.
