Herbaceous perennial growing from a corm. Plants typically reach a height of only 10cm. Leaves are linear with a pale stripe. Flowers are funnel-shaped and purple, occurring on tubular stems in late winter.

Uses

Ornamental flower suitable for rockeries and in woodland conditions.

Culture

Suitable for full sun or semi-shade in cool and temperate climates. Plants grown in warmer conditions are unlikely to flower more than once. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Frost tolerant. Propagate in autumn by seed or division. Seed grown plants typically do not flower until the third year.
