Hybrid between T. cordata and T. platyphyllos. Deciduous, spreading tree approx 30m high by 15m wide. Leaves are heart-shaped and dark green with serrate margins. Flowers are yellow-white, occurring in clusters in late summer. Insignificant fruit are round and slightly ribbed.

Uses

Ornamental tree suitable for parks, larger gardens and as a street tree. Can be pleached.

Culture

Prefers sun or semi-shade and fertile, well-drained soil in cool climates. Tolerant of frost and air pollution. Sensitive to drought. Can be regularly pruned. Shoots should be removed from the base to discourage suckering. Propagate by layering, cuttings, seed in autumn or grafting in summer.
