Silver Pear

Vigorous, deciduous tree 6m high by 2m wide. Pendulous branches. Glossy green willow-like leaves are silver when young. Flowers are small, numerous and white in spring. Fruit are brown small pear-shaped pomes in autumn.

Ornamental specimen tree for parks and gardens.

Culture

Prefers full sun and fertile, well-drained soils. Frost tolerant, but drought sensitive. Prune when young to improve shape. Autumn foliage is more spectacular when grown in full sun. Vulnerable to pear slug. Propagate by grafting.
