Evergreen shrub, grows to a height of 1 metre (occasionally 2 metres), with a spread of 1 metre. It has yellow flowers, that appear in early spring before the leaves. There are many named varieties available.

Ornamental shrub shrub suitable for hedges.

Culture

Prefers full sun or part shade, growing well in pots, tubs and garden beds. Most cultivars adapt well to heavy soils. Frost tolerant, it will not flower in sub tropical conditions. Can be pruned into a hedge. Propagate either by semi hardwood cuttings in late summer, or layering in the spring.
