Dwarf Blue Ceanothus

This evergreen shrub is native to California. It grows to a height of 3 metres and has a spread of 2 metres. The leaves are small (approx. 2.5cms long), alternate, oval shaped and have serrated margins. Ceanothus dentatus has stunning blue flowers which appear in the Spring and Autumn.

Uses

Ornamental shrub suitable for small and larger gardens.

Culture

Ceanothus sp. generally prefer hot dry conditions in full sun, and well drained soil with some moisture. They are generally hardy, but will suffer in severe cold, frost and snow. Ceanothus dentatus is adaptable to a range of soil types in a protected, sunny position. It can be propagated by heel cuttings.
