Lipstick Palm, Sealing Wax Palm

All have slender clump forming habits. The trunks are smooth with distinctive rings. Feather fronds in the crown are to around 1.5 m long and arched.

Culture

They will not tolerate dry or cold conditions less than 150C but prefer moist forests or swampy areas.

Propagation

Seeds germinate within 2 to 3 months but may require heat for good results.

Cultivars

Eight species, including:

C. renda (Lipstick Palm) to 5-10m with a greenish brown stem and reddish crown shaft. Native to Malay Peninsula and Borneo.

Plant Health

Cold sensitive.
