A perennial plant to 0.5m tall with attractive grey green, lacy leaves.

Uses

Traditionally used as a medicinal herb, rue can be dangerous if taken in large doses. The dried seed heads are attractive in flower arrangements.
It is a popular companion plant though evidence to support it's effectiveness is not as strong as with many other companion plants.
Do not take internally.
Rue is used mainly fresh, but can be dried.

Culture

Likes full or filtered sunlight. Provide a well drained to dry acidic soil
Protect from strong winds or severe frost.
Prune to shape after flowering.

Propagation

Propagate by seed in spring (cool climates) or autumn (hot climates).
