Prayer plant

Evergreen herbaceous perennial to 30cm high. The dark green, obovate leaves are approximately 15cm long. Depending upon growing conditions, it produces insignificant white flowers on slender spikes during summer. Varieties feature dark patches and/or red veins on the leaves.

Uses

Suitable for shaded sites in tropical gardens or as an indoor plant.

Culture

Grow in semi-shade or shade in warm or tropical climates, or as an indoor plant in cooler regions. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Does best in humid conditions, protected from winds. Frost sensitive. Propagate by division or cuttings.
