Evergreen, succulent, perennial to 30cm high and wide. The glossy, dark green leaves are ovate/oblong and dentate. Produces clusters of 5mm wide red flowers with four petals in winter. Varieties feature a range of pink and red colours.

Uses

Ornamental sub-shrub suitable for warm shaded positions or as a pot plant.

Culture

Suitable for semi-shade and a warm climate. Prefers well-drained soil. Avoid overwatering in cool weather. Frost sensitive. Propagate by seed in spring, by stem or leaf cuttings in spring or summer, and by dividing the plantlets that may form on the leaf margins.
