Clump-forming herbaceous perennial growing to 1.2m high by .6m wide. Leaves are mid-green and heavily divided. Purple, star-like flowers with prominent yellow stamens are held in panicles above the foliage in summer.

Ornamental perennial suitable for perennial borders, cottage gardens and rockeries.

Suitable for full sun or part-shade in cool or temperate climates. Prefers well-drained soil. Tolerates frost. Propagate by seed in autumn or division in spring.
