Deciduous, suckering and spreading shrub 1.5-2m high. The glossy green and wrinkled leaves also provide autumn colour. Flowers are large and fragrant, in various shades of purple and red during summer. The rose hips are large, bright red and tomato-shaped.

Uses

Excellent low hedging plant for coastal sites.

Culture

Prefers full sun and well-drained soil in cool climates. Tolerates coastal conditions. Suitable for hedging. Propagate by cuttings.
