Procumbent evergreen perennial. Stem contain a milky sap that can cause skin rashes. Oval green leaves, although some cultivars have variegated foliage. Flowers are green and inconspicuous. Red/purple fruit in late autumn.

Uses

Ornamental shrub suitable as a groundcover for perennial borders and rock gardens.

Culture

Prefers full sun, a sheltered position and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates frost. Propagate by root division, cuttings in summer or seed in autumn.
