Honey Locust

Deciduous, vase-shaped tree to 30m high by 10-15m wide. Trunk and branches have thorns. Leaves are dark green and pinnate, turning yellow in autumn. Flowers are green-yellow and insignificant. Fruit are large, brown, twisted, pea-like pods. Most cultivars are thornless.

Uses

Specimen tree suitable for parks and larger gardens.

Culture

A fast growing tree, it prefers full sun, protection from winds and fertile, moist soil. Drought sensitive. Frost tolerant once established. Propagate by scarified seed.
