This deciduous shrub grows to a height of 2.2 metres, with a spread of 2 metres. It has has oval leaves that are approximately 10 cms long. Its trumpet shaped flowers are rose pink in colour. The flowers of this shrub are its best attribute, as it can spend several months of the year looking bare and lifeless.

Uses

Ornamental shrub suitable for a sunny position in a garden bed.

Culture

Weigelas generally like rich, well drained soil - and plenty of water in the growing season. Plant in an open, sunny position. This species is frost resistant but drought tender. It can be propagated from cuttings.
