A creeping evergreen perennial which grows to a height of 0.3 metres and has a spread of 0.3 metres. It has ovate leaves with serrated margins, and bears tiny white and pink flowers in early summer.

Uses

Ornamental perennial suited to protected positions in rockeries and garden beds.

Culture

This native of Japan does best in rich, moist, well drained soil. It is frost resistant but drought tender, and prefers a protected position in partial shade. Requires additional moisture when grown in full sun. Propagate by cuttings or by division in spring.
